Murray 42564x59A Parts Manual

To start the Murray 42564x59A tractor, ensure the parking brake is engaged, the PTO is disengaged, and the transmission is in neutral. Insert the key and turn it to the 'start' position until the engine starts. Release the key once the engine is running.
Perform regular maintenance every 50 hours of operation or annually, whichever comes first. This includes checking the oil level, cleaning the air filter, inspecting the blades for damage, and lubricating all moving parts.
If the tractor won't start, check the battery connections and charge if necessary. Ensure the fuel valve is open, the spark plug is clean, and the fuel filter isn't clogged. Verify all safety switches are properly engaged.
Use SAE 30 oil for temperatures above 40°F (4°C) and SAE 5W-30 for temperatures below 40°F (4°C). Check the owner’s manual for specific oil recommendations based on your climate.
To change the blades, first disconnect the spark plug for safety. Lift the mower deck and use a wrench to remove the blade bolts. Replace with new blades, ensuring they are installed in the correct orientation, and tighten the bolts securely.
Uncut patches may be due to dull blades, improper deck height, or mowing too fast. Sharpen or replace the blades, adjust the deck level, and mow at a slower speed to ensure even cutting.
If the transmission is not engaging, check the drive belt for wear or damage and replace if necessary. Ensure the transmission lever is fully engaged, and inspect the transmission fluid level if applicable.
To clean the air filter, remove the air filter cover, take out the filter, and gently tap it to remove debris. If it's excessively dirty, replace it. Ensure the filter is dry and free from oil before reinstallation.
Excessive vibration can be caused by unbalanced blades, loose bolts, or damaged components. Check and balance the blades, tighten any loose bolts, and inspect the spindle and bearings for wear or damage.
For winter storage, clean the tractor thoroughly, change the oil, and add a fuel stabilizer to the fuel tank. Remove the battery and store it in a cool, dry place. Cover the tractor to protect it from dust and moisture.
