Ensure the tractor is on a level surface. Check that the parking brake is engaged, the PTO switch is off, and the throttle is set to the choke position. Turn the key to the start position until the engine fires up, then release. Adjust throttle to the desired speed once started.
Verify that there is sufficient fuel in the tank, the battery is charged, and the spark plug is in good condition. Also, ensure the safety switches are properly engaged and the fuel filter is not clogged.
Oil should be changed after the first 5 hours of use, then every 50 hours or annually, whichever comes first. Use SAE 30 oil for optimal performance.
Regularly clean the deck to remove grass clippings and debris. Check and sharpen the blades as needed, and inspect the belt for wear or damage. Lubricate all moving parts per the owner's manual recommendations.
Check that the tire pressure is equal on all sides and the deck is level. Inspect the blades for sharpness and damage. Adjust the deck wheels if necessary to ensure even cutting height.
Inspect the blades for damage or imbalance. Check the mounting bolts on the engine and deck for tightness. Ensure the tires are properly inflated and inspect the belt for wear or misalignment.
Keep the battery terminals clean and ensure they are tightly connected. Limit exposure to extreme temperatures and charge the battery before long periods of inactivity. Use a trickle charger when storing the tractor for extended periods.
Use clean, fresh unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87. Avoid using gasoline with more than 10% ethanol to prevent damage to the fuel system.
Locate the air filter cover, remove the screws or clips, and take off the cover. Replace the old filter with a new one, ensuring it is seated properly. Reattach the cover securely.
Clean the tractor thoroughly, change the oil, and add fuel stabilizer to the tank. Disconnect the battery and store it in a cool, dry place. Cover the tractor to protect it from dust and moisture.
