To start the Murray 42506x92A Tractor, ensure the parking brake is engaged, the PTO is disengaged, and the throttle lever is in the choke position. Turn the ignition key to the start position. Once the engine starts, move the throttle from choke to fast position.
If the engine won't start, check the battery connections for corrosion, ensure the fuel tank is not empty, and inspect the spark plug for wear. Also, verify the air filter is clean and the fuel valve is in the open position.
Change the oil every 25 hours of operation or at the beginning of each season, whichever comes first. Use SAE 30 oil for optimal performance in warm conditions.
Uneven cutting can be caused by a dull blade, incorrect tire pressure, or an unlevel deck. Sharpen the blade, check and adjust tire pressure to the recommended PSI, and level the mower deck using the adjustment points.
To clean the mower deck, ensure the engine is off and cool, then remove any grass clippings or debris using a brush or compressed air. For thorough cleaning, detach the mower deck and wash it with a hose, ensuring it's dry before reattaching.
To replace the drive belt, disconnect the spark plug, remove the mower deck, and locate the drive belt. Remove the belt from the pulleys, install the new belt following the pulley path, and reattach the mower deck.
Excessive vibration can be caused by an unbalanced blade or debris on the blades. Check for and remove any debris, and inspect the blades for damage or imbalance. Replace or balance the blades as necessary.
To adjust the cutting height, locate the height adjustment lever on the mower deck and move it to the desired position. Ensure that both sides of the deck are at the same height for an even cut.
At the end of the season, clean the tractor thoroughly, change the oil, and check the air filter. Drain the fuel system or add a fuel stabilizer, and store the tractor in a dry, covered location. Remove the battery and store it in a cool, dry place if necessary.
To store the tractor for winter, clean it thoroughly, change the oil, and stabilize the fuel. Inflate the tires to the recommended pressure, disconnect the battery, and store the tractor in a dry, protected area. Cover it with a tarp if stored outside.
