To start the Murray 42500B Tractor, ensure it's on a level surface, engage the parking brake, and set the throttle to the 'fast' position. Turn the ignition key to the 'start' position until the engine starts, then release.
Check the battery connections to ensure they are clean and tight. Verify the fuel level and make sure the fuel valve is open. Inspect the spark plug and replace if necessary.
To change the oil, place the tractor on a level surface, remove the oil drain plug, and let the old oil drain completely. Replace the drain plug and fill with new oil as per the manufacturer’s specifications.
Use unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87. Avoid using E85 or other high-ethanol fuel blends.
Check the tire pressure to ensure it is even on all sides. Inspect the blades for damage or dullness and sharpen or replace them as needed. Also, ensure the deck is level.
Safely elevate the tractor and disconnect the spark plug. Remove the mower deck and use a wrench to loosen the blade bolts. Replace with new blades and tighten the bolts securely.
Regular maintenance includes checking and replacing the oil, sharpening the blades, inspecting the air filter, checking the tire pressure, and ensuring all nuts and bolts are tight.
Clean the tractor thoroughly, change the oil, and add a fuel stabilizer to the tank. Disconnect the battery and store it in a cool, dry place. Cover the tractor to protect it from dust and moisture.
It is not recommended to use the tractor on wet grass as it can lead to uneven cutting and potentially damage the lawn or the tractor’s components.
Locate the cutting height adjustment lever, usually on the side of the tractor. Move the lever to your desired height setting. Ensure both sides are set equally for an even cut.
