To start the Murray 42500A Tractor, ensure the parking brake is engaged, the PTO is disengaged, and the gear is in neutral. Insert the key into the ignition and turn it clockwise to start the engine.
Use SAE 30 oil for temperatures above 40°F (4°C) and SAE 5W-30 for temperatures below 40°F (4°C) for optimal engine performance.
Change the oil every 25 hours of operation or at the beginning of each mowing season, whichever comes first.
Check the battery for charge, ensure the spark plug is clean and properly connected, verify the fuel level, and examine the fuel filter for clogs.
Locate the cutting height adjustment lever on the right side of the tractor. Move the lever to the desired cutting height position, ranging from 1 to 4 inches.
Ensure the tire pressure is equal on all sides, check that the blades are sharp and balanced, and verify that the deck is level from side to side.
Regularly clean the battery terminals, check for corrosion, ensure connections are tight, and charge the battery if it is low.
First, disconnect the spark plug wire for safety. Then, lift the tractor deck to access the blades, use a wrench to remove the blade bolts, replace the blades, and tighten the bolts securely.
Check for debris blocking the cooling fins, ensure the oil level is adequate, and make sure the air filter is clean and not clogged.
Clean the tractor thoroughly, change the oil, add a fuel stabilizer, disconnect the battery, and store the tractor in a dry, sheltered area. Cover it with a tarp to protect from dust and moisture.
