Murray 40708x20D Parts Manual

To start the Murray 40708x20D Tractor, ensure the parking brake is engaged, the PTO switch is off, and the throttle is set to the choke position. Turn the ignition key to the start position until the engine fires, then release it to the run position.
If the tractor won't start, check the battery connections, ensure the fuel tank is not empty, and verify that the spark plug is not fouled. Also, make sure the safety switches are engaged properly.
It is recommended to change the engine oil after the first 5 hours of use and then every 50 hours of operation or annually, whichever comes first.
The recommended tire pressure for the front tires is 14 PSI and for the rear tires is 10 PSI. Always check the tire pressure when the tires are cold.
Ensure the deck is level, blades are sharp, and the tire pressure is correct. Also, check for any obstructions or buildup under the deck that might be affecting performance.
Excessive vibration can be caused by unbalanced or damaged blades, loose hardware, or issues with the engine mounts. Inspect and address these components as needed.
To adjust the cutting height, use the lever located on the fender. Shift the lever to select the desired height setting. Make sure the tractor is on a flat surface when making adjustments.
Before storing for winter, clean the tractor, change the oil, add fuel stabilizer, and disconnect the battery. Store in a dry place and cover to protect from dust and moisture.
After each use, clean the mower deck with a garden hose or air blower. Make sure the engine is off and the spark plug wire is disconnected for safety.
Regularly check the brakes, steering, and tire pressure. Ensure all safety switches and shields are in place and functioning correctly. Inspect belts for wear and replace if necessary.
