To start the Murray 40614C Tractor, ensure the parking brake is engaged, the PTO is off, and the transmission is in neutral. Turn the ignition key to the start position and release it once the engine starts.
Use SAE 30 oil for temperatures above 40°F (4°C) and SAE 5W-30 for temperatures below 40°F (4°C). Make sure to check the oil level regularly and change it as recommended in the manual.
If the tractor doesn't start, check the battery connections, ensure the fuel valve is open, inspect the spark plug, and verify that all safety switches are engaged properly.
Blades should be sharpened after approximately every 25 hours of use or when they appear dull, leading to uneven cuts. Always disconnect the spark plug before servicing blades.
The recommended tire pressure for the Murray 40614C Tractor is typically 10 PSI for the front tires and 14 PSI for the rear tires. Always check the sidewall of the tire for specific recommendations.
To clean the air filter, remove the cover, take out the filter, and gently clean it with compressed air or soapy water. Ensure it is completely dry before reinstalling. Replace it if it is excessively dirty or damaged.
If overheating occurs, check the coolant level, ensure the radiator is clean, and inspect the fan belt for wear. Regular maintenance of these components is crucial for optimal performance.
For winter storage, clean the tractor thoroughly, change the oil, add fuel stabilizer, disconnect the battery, and store it in a dry, covered area to prevent weather damage.
To change the spark plug, disconnect the spark plug wire, use a spark plug wrench to remove the old plug, install a new plug, and reconnect the wire. Ensure the new plug is properly gapped as per the manual.
Adjust the cutting height by using the lever located beside the seat. Move the lever to the desired height setting, which ranges from low to high, depending on the preferred grass length.
