Ensure the parking brake is engaged, the PTO is disengaged, and the throttle is set to the choke position. Turn the ignition key to start the engine.
Check the battery connections for corrosion, ensure the fuel tank has gasoline, and verify that the spark plug is in good condition.
Change the oil every 50 hours of operation or at the beginning of each mowing season, whichever comes first.
Use SAE 30 oil for temperatures above 32°F (0°C) and SAE 5W-30 for temperatures below 32°F (0°C).
Remove the blades carefully, secure them in a vice, and use a file or grinder to sharpen, maintaining the original angle of the blade.
Check for dull blades, clogged mower deck, or incorrect blade height. Clean the deck and sharpen or replace blades as needed.
Use the lever located near the driver's seat to raise or lower the mower deck to the desired cutting height.
The front tires should be inflated to 14 psi and the rear tires to 10 psi.
Remove the air filter cover, take out the filter, and gently tap it to remove any debris. If it's excessively dirty, replace it with a new one.
Clean the tractor thoroughly, change the oil, add fuel stabilizer, inflate tires to the recommended pressure, and store in a dry place.
