To start the Murray 40564x51D tractor, ensure the parking brake is engaged, the PTO is off, and the throttle is set to choke for a cold start or half-throttle for a warm start. Turn the ignition key clockwise to start the engine.
Check the battery connections and charge if necessary. Ensure fuel is available and the fuel valve is open. Inspect the spark plug for wear or damage and replace if needed.
The oil should be changed every 50 hours of operation or at least once per season. Use SAE 30 motor oil for temperatures above 32°F and SAE 5W-30 for temperatures below 32°F.
To adjust the cutting height, use the height adjustment lever located on the right side of the tractor. Move the lever to the desired position to set the blade height between 1.5 to 4 inches.
The recommended tire pressure for the front tires is 14 PSI and for the rear tires is 10 PSI. Always check the tires when they are cold for an accurate reading.
Ensure the mower deck is level by checking the deck's adjustment bolts. Inspect the blades for sharpness and replace if dull. Make sure the tire pressure is even on both sides.
Use fresh, unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Avoid using gasoline with more than 10% ethanol content to prevent engine damage.
First, disconnect the spark plug wire to prevent accidental starting. Lift the deck and use a block to secure it. Remove the blade bolt using a wrench, replace the blade, and tighten the bolt securely.
Clean the battery terminals regularly to prevent corrosion. Ensure the battery is fully charged before storage. Disconnect the battery cables if the tractor will not be used for an extended period.
Check for debris lodged in the mower deck, inspect the blades for balance, and ensure all bolts and nuts are securely tightened. Uneven tire pressure can also cause vibrations.
