To start the Murray 405602x51A Tractor, ensure the parking brake is engaged, the PTO is disengaged, and the transmission is in neutral. Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the start position until the engine begins to run.
Regular maintenance includes checking the engine oil before each use, changing the oil every 25 hours of operation, inspecting the air filter every 25 hours, and cleaning or replacing it as needed. Also, check and clean the battery terminals, and inspect the blades and belts every 50 hours.
If the tractor won't start, check the battery connections for corrosion and ensure they are tight. Verify that the fuel level is adequate and the fuel shut-off valve is open. Examine the spark plug for wear or fouling, and replace it if necessary.
Use SAE 30 oil for temperatures above 32°F (0°C). For temperatures below 32°F (0°C), use SAE 5W-30 oil. Always refer to the owner's manual for the most accurate recommendations.
To adjust the cutting height, locate the lever on the right side of the operator's seat. Move the lever to the desired position to adjust the mower deck height, ensuring the tractor is on a level surface for an even cut.
Check if the PTO switch is in the "ON" position. Inspect the drive belt for damage or wear and replace if necessary. Also, ensure that the battery has a sufficient charge to engage the blades.
First, disconnect the spark plug wire for safety. Remove the mower deck and locate the drive belt. Release the belt tensioner and remove the old belt. Install the new belt, ensuring it is routed correctly, and reassemble the deck.
Regular maintenance such as changing the oil, cleaning the air filter, and keeping the blades sharp can improve fuel efficiency. Additionally, operate the tractor at its optimal speed and avoid mowing wet grass.
If the tractor overheats, check the engine oil level and add oil if necessary. Ensure the cooling fins on the engine are clean and free of debris. Also, verify that the air intake and cooling system are not obstructed.
To winterize the tractor, drain the fuel system or add a fuel stabilizer, change the engine oil, and remove the battery to store it in a cool, dry place. Clean the tractor thoroughly and cover it to protect it from dust and moisture.
