Ensure the tractor is on a flat surface. Sit on the seat and make sure the parking brake is engaged. Ensure the throttle is set to 'Fast' and the PTO switch is in the 'Off' position. Turn the ignition key to start the engine.
Check the battery connections for corrosion or looseness. Ensure the fuel level is adequate and the fuel valve is open. Examine the spark plug for wear and replace if necessary.
Change the oil every 50 hours of operation or at the beginning of each season, whichever comes first. Use SAE 30 oil for optimal performance.
Regularly check the blades for sharpness and balance. Clean the deck after each use to prevent grass buildup. Lubricate the spindles and inspect the belt for wear.
Locate the cutting height adjustment lever on the right side of the tractor. Move the lever to select the desired cutting height, ranging from 1.5 to 4 inches.
Check for debris lodged in the deck or around the blades. Inspect the blades for damage or imbalance. Ensure all fasteners and belts are properly tightened.
Regularly clean or replace the air filter. Ensure tires are properly inflated. Avoid idling the engine for extended periods and use the appropriate throttle setting for the task.
Disconnect the spark plug and lift the tractor safely. Use a wrench to remove the blade bolts, then replace the blades ensuring they are properly aligned and tightened to the manufacturer's specifications.
Clean the tractor thoroughly, change the oil, and add a fuel stabilizer. Disconnect the battery and store it in a cool, dry place. Check the antifreeze level if applicable.
Check if the deck is level by measuring from the ground to the blade tip on each side. Inspect the blades for sharpness and damage. Verify that the tire pressure is equal on all tires.
