To start the Murray 405004x52A Tractor, ensure the parking brake is engaged, the PTO switch is in the 'OFF' position, and the throttle is set to 'FAST'. Turn the ignition key to the 'START' position until the engine starts, then release it to the 'RUN' position.
If the engine won't start, check the battery charge, ensure the fuel tank has sufficient gasoline, and verify that all safety switches are engaged correctly. Inspect the spark plug for wear and replace it if necessary.
Uneven cutting can be caused by dull blades, improper tire pressure, or an uneven deck. Sharpen or replace the blades, check and adjust the tire pressure, and level the deck according to the manual’s instructions.
Regular maintenance includes checking the oil level before each use, changing the oil every 50 hours or annually, cleaning the air filter every 25 hours, and inspecting the blades and belts for wear regularly.
To change the oil, warm up the engine, then turn it off. Remove the oil drain plug and allow the oil to drain into a suitable container. Replace the drain plug, add new oil, and check the level with the dipstick.
If the battery isn’t charging, check the connections to ensure they are clean and tight. Test the alternator and voltage regulator for proper function, and replace any faulty components.
To replace the drive belt, disconnect the spark plug, remove the mower deck, and release the belt tension. Remove the old belt and install the new one, ensuring it is seated correctly in all pulleys before reassembling.
Use unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87. Avoid using gasoline with more than 10% ethanol, as it can damage the engine.
Adjust the cutting height by using the height adjustment lever located on the tractor. Move the lever to the desired position, ensuring both sides are set at the same height for an even cut.
Excessive vibration can result from unbalanced blades, loose bolts, or debris lodged in the deck. Check the blade balance, tighten any loose hardware, and clean the mower deck thoroughly.
