To start the Murray 38715A Tractor, ensure that the tractor is on a level surface. Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the 'Start' position while ensuring the parking brake is engaged and the PTO is off. Release the key once the engine starts.
If the tractor won't start, check the battery connections for corrosion, ensure the fuel tank is not empty, and examine the spark plug for wear. Also, verify that the parking brake is engaged and the PTO switch is turned off.
The oil should be changed after the first 5 hours of operation and then every 50 hours or annually, whichever comes first. Always refer to the user manual for specific oil type recommendations.
Adjust the cutting height by using the lever located next to the seat. Move the lever to the desired height position, ensuring the engine is off and the blades are stationary before making adjustments.
Check the PTO switch to ensure it is in the 'On' position. Inspect the drive belts for wear or damage, and ensure they are properly tensioned. If the issue persists, consult the manual or a professional technician.
Uneven cutting can be caused by an unlevel mower deck. Check and adjust the deck leveling as per the instructions in the manual. Ensure the tire pressure is even and the blades are sharp and not damaged.
Inspect the air filter every 25 hours of use. Clean it by tapping it gently to remove dirt and debris, or replace it if it is excessively dirty or damaged. Always ensure the filter is dry before reinstallation.
Clean the tractor thoroughly, change the oil, and fill the fuel tank with stabilizer. Disconnect the battery and store it in a cool, dry place. Cover the tractor to protect it from dust and moisture.
Excessive vibration can be caused by unbalanced or damaged blades. Check the blades for damage and ensure they are properly balanced. Inspect the drive belts and pulleys for wear or misalignment.
To replace the spark plug, disconnect the spark plug wire, remove the old spark plug using a spark plug socket, and install the new plug. Ensure the new plug is gapped correctly according to the specifications in the manual. Reattach the spark plug wire securely.
