To start the Murray 38714x51A Tractor, ensure the parking brake is engaged and the PTO switch is in the "Off" position. Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the "Start" position. Release the key once the engine starts.
Use SAE 30 oil for temperatures above 40°F (4°C) and SAE 5W-30 for temperatures below 40°F (4°C) to ensure optimal engine performance.
Change the oil after the first 5 hours of use, and then every 50 hours of operation or annually, whichever comes first.
Check the battery connections for corrosion, ensure the battery is charged, and verify that the fuel tank is not empty. Also, make sure the spark plug is in good condition and the air filter is clean.
Locate the cutting height adjustment lever on the right side of the tractor. Move the lever to the desired position to adjust the cutting height. Ensure the blades are not engaged when making adjustments.
Clean the tractor thoroughly, change the oil, check and clean the air filter, and remove the battery to store it in a cool, dry place. Add a fuel stabilizer to the fuel tank and run the engine for a few minutes to circulate it through the system.
Ensure the tractor is on a flat surface and the engine is off. Use a block to prevent the blades from rotating, then use a wrench to remove the blade bolt. Replace with new blades and tighten the bolt securely.
Check if the blades are balanced and securely attached. Inspect the engine mounting bolts and ensure the belts are not worn or damaged. Uneven tire pressure can also cause vibrations, so check and adjust the tire pressure as needed.
Ensure the tire pressure is even and correct. Check that the blades are sharp and not bent. Adjust the deck level by raising or lowering the deck adjustment points to ensure an even cut.
Check the transmission belt for wear or damage and replace it if necessary. Ensure the belt tension is correct, and inspect the transmission fluid level, topping it up if needed according to the manufacturer's specifications.
