To start the Murray 38711x67C Tractor, ensure the parking brake is engaged, the PTO is off, and the throttle is set to a mid-position. Turn the ignition key to the start position until the engine starts.
Check the battery connections for corrosion, ensure the fuel tank has fresh fuel, and inspect the spark plug for wear. If the issue persists, consult the manual or a technician.
To change the oil, run the engine for a few minutes to warm it up, then remove the oil drain plug and allow the old oil to drain completely. Replace the plug, then refill with the appropriate type and amount of oil as specified in the manual.
The recommended tire pressure for the front tires is 14 psi and for the rear tires is 10 psi. Always check the pressure when the tires are cold.
Sharpen the mower blades at least once per mowing season or more frequently if you notice the grass is not being cut cleanly. Inspect the blades for damage during each sharpening.
Check the PTO switch and ensure it is in the "on" position. Inspect the drive belt for wear or damage, and replace if necessary. Also, check the blade engagement cable for proper tension.
Regularly clean the battery terminals and apply a protective coating to prevent corrosion. Check the electrolyte levels in non-sealed batteries and refill with distilled water if necessary. Ensure the battery is fully charged before storage.
To winterize the tractor, clean it thoroughly, change the oil, and add a fuel stabilizer to the fuel tank. Remove the battery and store it in a cool, dry place. Cover the tractor to protect it from dust and moisture.
Check the tire pressure to ensure it is uniform across all tires. Examine the mower deck for levelness and adjust if necessary. Inspect the blades for damage or dullness and sharpen or replace as needed.
Regular maintenance includes checking and changing the oil, inspecting the air filter, tightening bolts and screws, lubricating moving parts, and checking the tire pressure. Refer to the manual for a detailed schedule.
