To change the oil, ensure the tractor is on a level surface. Remove the oil drain plug and allow the old oil to drain completely. Replace the drain plug and refill with the recommended oil type and quantity as specified in the manual.
The Murray 38705A Tractor is designed to run on unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Avoid using ethanol blends greater than 10%.
First, check the battery connections and charge. Ensure the fuel tank has fresh gas and that the fuel line is not clogged. Verify that the spark plug is clean and properly connected. Lastly, ensure the safety switches are engaged.
Regular maintenance includes checking the oil level before each use, replacing the oil every 50 hours or annually, sharpening the blades, and cleaning the air filter every 25 hours of use. Refer to the owner's manual for a detailed schedule.
Ensure the tractor is off and parked on a flat surface. Use a wrench to remove the blade mounting bolt. Remove the old blade and install the new one, ensuring it is securely fastened.
Excessive vibration can be caused by unbalanced or damaged blades. Check the blades for damage and balance them if necessary. Also, inspect the deck for debris that may be causing imbalance.
Locate the cutting height adjustment lever on the side of the tractor. Move the lever to the desired height setting. Ensure both sides are set to the same level for an even cut.
Stop the tractor immediately and allow it to cool. Check for any obstructions in the cooling fins or grille. Ensure that the oil level is adequate and that the cooling fan is functioning properly.
Clean the tractor thoroughly and remove any grass clippings. Drain the fuel or add a fuel stabilizer. Disconnect the battery and store it in a cool, dry place. Cover the tractor to protect it from dust and moisture.
Ensure the tires are properly inflated as per the specifications. Check that the blades are sharp and properly aligned. Consider using wheel weights or a differential lock if available for better traction.
