To start the Murray 38623x5C Tractor, ensure the parking brake is engaged, the PTO switch is off, and the throttle is set to the choke position. Insert the key into the ignition and turn it clockwise to start the engine.
If the tractor won't start, check the battery for charge, ensure all safety switches are engaged, and verify that there is fuel in the tank. If the problem persists, consult the user manual for further troubleshooting steps.
Regular maintenance should be performed every 25 hours of operation. This includes checking the oil level, air filter, and cleaning the cutting deck. A thorough inspection and service should be conducted annually.
It is recommended to use SAE 30 oil for temperatures above 32°F (0°C) and SAE 5W-30 for temperatures below 32°F (0°C). Always refer to the user manual for specific oil grade recommendations.
To change the mower blades, ensure the engine is off and the spark plug wire is disconnected. Tilt the tractor to access the blades, use a wrench to remove the bolt securing each blade, and replace with new ones. Ensure the blades are properly aligned and secure the bolts tightly.
If the cutting deck is uneven, check the tire pressures first. Then, adjust the deck height by setting the deck level according to the instructions in the user manual. Ensure that the blades are sharp and not bent.
To clean the air filter, remove the filter cover, take out the air filter, and gently tap it to remove any loose dirt. If the filter is very dirty, wash it with mild detergent and water, allow it to dry completely, then reinstall.
For winter storage, clean the tractor thoroughly, change the oil, and drain the fuel system. Inflate tires to the recommended pressure and disconnect the battery. Store the tractor in a dry, sheltered area.
Excessive vibration can be caused by unbalanced blades, loose bolts, or damaged belts. Check that blades are balanced and securely fastened. Inspect belts and pulleys for damage and ensure all bolts are tightened.
Always wear appropriate safety gear such as gloves and eye protection. Ensure the area is clear of debris before mowing, never operate the tractor on a steep slope, and keep children and pets away from the mowing area.
