Ensure the parking brake is engaged, the PTO is disengaged, and the throttle is set to the choke position for a cold start. Turn the ignition key to the start position until the engine starts, then release.
Check the fuel level, ensure the battery is charged, inspect the spark plug for wear or damage, and verify that all safety switches are functioning properly.
Warm up the engine, turn it off, and remove the oil drain plug to drain old oil. Replace the plug, change the oil filter, and refill with the recommended oil type and amount.
Check and adjust the tire pressure, ensure the deck is level, and inspect the blades for sharpness and balance. Replace or sharpen blades if needed.
Regular maintenance should be performed at least once per season or every 50 hours of use, including oil changes, air filter checks, and blade inspections.
Use fresh, unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Avoid using gasoline with more than 10% ethanol.
Check for loose or damaged blades, ensure the spindle and pulleys are not worn, and inspect the belt for wear or misalignment. Tighten and replace parts as necessary.
Inspect the drive belt for wear or damage, check the tension and alignment, and ensure the transmission control linkage is properly adjusted.
Clean the tractor thoroughly, change the oil, stabilize the fuel, disconnect the battery, and store it in a dry, covered location. Inflate tires to the recommended pressure.
Ensure the tractor is on a flat surface, disconnect the spark plug, use a block to prevent blade rotation, and remove the blade bolt. Replace with new blades and tighten securely.
