To start the Murray 385012x68A tractor, ensure the parking brake is engaged, the PTO is off, and the gear shift is in neutral. Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the start position. Release the key once the engine starts.
If the engine does not start, check the battery connections and ensure they are clean and tight. Verify that there is enough fuel and that the fuel shut-off valve is open. Check the spark plug and replace it if necessary.
The oil in your Murray tractor should be changed every 50 hours of operation or at the beginning of each season, whichever comes first. Always use recommended oil types and grades.
Before storing the tractor for winter, clean the tractor thoroughly, change the oil, empty the fuel tank or add a stabilizer, and disconnect the battery. Store the tractor in a dry, sheltered place.
To troubleshoot uneven cutting, check if the mower deck is level and adjust if necessary. Ensure the blades are sharp and balanced. Also, inspect the tires for even pressure.
If the transmission is not engaging, check the drive belt for wear or damage and replace it if needed. Ensure the transmission fluid is at the correct level. Consult the manual for specific transmission adjustments.
To replace the blades, first, disconnect the spark plug for safety. Lift the tractor and secure it. Remove the blade bolts using a wrench. Replace the old blades with new ones, ensuring they are installed in the correct orientation. Tighten the bolts securely.
The Murray 385012x68A tractor is designed to run on unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Avoid using gasoline with more than 10% ethanol.
To clean the air filter, remove the air filter cover and take out the filter. If it's a paper filter, tap it gently to remove dirt. If it's foam, wash it in soapy water, rinse, and allow it to dry before reinstalling.
Excessive vibration could be due to unbalanced blades or debris caught in the mower deck. Check for and remove any debris. Inspect the blades for damage or imbalance and replace if necessary.
