Ensure the tractor is on a flat surface. Check that the parking brake is set, and the PTO is disengaged. Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the 'Start' position while ensuring that the throttle is set to 'Choke' if the engine is cold.
Check the battery connections for corrosion and ensure they're tight. Verify that the fuel tank is not empty and that the fuel valve is open. Inspect the spark plug for wear or damage, and replace if necessary.
Park the tractor on a level surface, and turn off the engine. Place an oil pan under the engine, remove the oil drain plug, and let the oil drain completely. Replace the drain plug and refill with the recommended oil type and quantity as per the manual.
Ensure the PTO switch is engaged. Check the belt for tension and signs of wear or damage. Inspect the blade engagement cable for proper connection and adjustment.
Sharpen the mower blades after every 20-25 hours of use or at least once per mowing season to ensure a clean cut and healthy lawn.
Use unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Avoid using gasoline with more than 10% ethanol content.
Locate the cutting height adjustment lever, usually positioned near the driver's seat. Move the lever to the desired position, ensuring all wheels are set at the same height for an even cut.
Regular maintenance includes checking and changing the oil, cleaning or replacing the air filter, checking the spark plug, inspecting belts and blades, and lubricating moving parts as per the service manual.
Check if the mower deck is level and adjust if necessary. Inspect the blades for sharpness and proper installation. Ensure that the tire pressure is even across all wheels.
Inspect the blades for balance and damage. Check the engine mounting bolts and ensure they're tight. Inspect the belts for wear and proper tension.
