Ensure the tractor is on a flat surface, engage the parking brake, move the throttle to the choke position if cold starting, and turn the key in the ignition to start the engine.
Check if the fuel tank is filled, the battery is charged, and the spark plug is in good condition. Also, ensure that the safety switches are engaged.
Change the oil every 50 hours of operation or at the beginning of each mowing season, whichever comes first.
Check if the tires are properly inflated, the blades are sharp, and the deck is level. Uneven cutting can be caused by any of these issues.
Disconnect the spark plug, raise the mower deck, use a wrench to remove the blade bolts, replace with new blades, and ensure they are securely tightened.
Excessive vibration can be caused by damaged or unbalanced blades. Check the blades for any damage or imbalance and replace if necessary.
Remove the air filter cover, take out the filter, clean it with compressed air, or replace it if it's excessively dirty or damaged. Reinstall it securely.
Inspect the battery connections for corrosion, ensure the alternator is functioning, and check the battery voltage with a multimeter. Replace or recharge the battery if needed.
Ensure the tires are properly inflated and consider adding tire chains or weights to improve traction on slippery or uneven terrain.
Clean the tractor, change the oil, drain the fuel or add a stabilizer, disconnect the battery, and store it in a dry, sheltered area.
