Kohler recommends using SAE 10W-30 oil for general use in the XTX650 engine. Always check the owner's manual for specific oil types based on temperature ranges.
If the engine won't start, check the fuel supply, spark plug condition, and ensure the air filter is clean. Also, verify that the engine is receiving proper electrical power and the choke is engaged correctly.
To change the air filter, first remove the air cleaner cover. Take out the old filter and replace it with a new one. Ensure it is seated properly before reattaching the cover.
Oil should be changed after the first 5 hours of use and then every 25 hours of operation or annually, whichever comes first.
For a rough-running engine, inspect the spark plug for wear or damage, check fuel quality, and ensure the carburetor is clean. Also, verify that there are no air leaks in the intake system.
The correct spark plug gap for the Kohler XTX650 engine is 0.030 inches (0.76 mm). Always use a feeler gauge to measure and adjust the gap accurately.
For long-term storage, drain the fuel or add a fuel stabilizer, change the oil, clean the engine, and store it in a dry place. Disconnect the spark plug wire to prevent accidental starting.
Regularly inspect and clean the cooling fins and air intake areas to ensure proper air flow. This prevents overheating and maintains efficient engine operation.
To adjust the idle speed, locate the idle speed screw on the carburetor. Turn the screw clockwise to increase RPM or counterclockwise to decrease RPM. Adjust until the engine runs smoothly at idle.
If the engine is leaking oil, check for loose or damaged seals, gaskets, and oil filter. Tighten or replace as necessary and ensure oil drain plugs are secure.
