Regular maintenance includes checking and changing the oil, inspecting and cleaning the air filter, checking the spark plug, and ensuring that the cooling fins are clean. Refer to the owner's manual for the recommended intervals and procedures.
Use a high-quality detergent oil classified as "For Service SF, SG, SH, SJ" or higher. Check the engine's manual for the appropriate viscosity grade based on your operating temperature.
Check the fuel level and ensure the fuel is fresh. Inspect the spark plug for wear or carbon buildup and replace if necessary. Verify that the air filter is clean and the battery is charged.
Ensure that the cooling fins are clean and not blocked. Check the oil level and make sure it is adequate. Avoid running the engine at high loads for extended periods.
It is recommended to change the oil every 100 hours of operation or at least once a year, whichever comes first. More frequent changes might be necessary in dusty or harsh operating conditions.
Signs include difficulty starting the engine, poor fuel economy, misfiring, and a noticeable drop in performance. Inspect the spark plug for excessive wear, carbon deposits, or damage.
Maintain a clean air filter, ensure the spark plug is in good condition, and keep the engine well-tuned. Operate the engine at the recommended RPM and avoid overloading.
Black smoke can be caused by a dirty air filter, a rich fuel mixture, or a clogged carburetor. Check and clean the air filter, and inspect the carburetor and fuel system for any issues.
Inspect the air filter, spark plug, and fuel system. A rough idle can also be caused by a vacuum leak or an issue with the carburetor settings.
Drain the fuel system or add a fuel stabilizer to prevent gum deposits. Change the oil and remove the spark plug to add a few drops of oil into the cylinder to prevent rust. Keep the engine in a dry place and cover it to protect from dust.
