Ensure the fuel valve is open, the throttle is set to 'Start' position, and the choke is engaged. Turn the ignition key to the 'Start' position until the engine starts. Release the key once the engine starts and gradually disengage the choke.
Kohler recommends using SAE 10W-30 oil for the KT610 engine. The oil capacity is approximately 1.5 liters. Always check the oil level with the dipstick before starting the engine.
Routine maintenance should be performed every 50 hours of operation or annually, whichever comes first. This includes changing the oil, replacing the air filter, and checking the spark plug.
Check the fuel level, ensure the fuel valve is open, and verify the spark plug is clean and properly gapped. Also, make sure the battery is charged and the cables are securely connected.
Ensure the engine has adequate ventilation and is free from debris. Regularly check the cooling fins for blockages and keep the engine oil at the recommended level.
Locate the idle speed screw on the carburetor. Turn it clockwise to increase the idle speed or counterclockwise to decrease it. Adjust until the desired idle speed is reached.
Remove the air filter cover by loosening the screws. Take out the old filter and replace it with a new one. Reattach the cover and secure it with the screws.
Drain the fuel tank and run the engine until it stops. Change the oil and remove the spark plug, adding a few drops of oil into the cylinder before reinserting it. Store in a dry, clean area.
Check the spark plug for wear and proper gap, inspect the fuel line for leaks or clogs, and ensure the carburetor is clean. Adjust the timing if necessary.
Signs include difficulty starting, misfiring, poor fuel economy, and a noticeable decrease in power. Inspect the spark plug for carbon deposits or damage.
