The recommended oil type for the Kohler KDW702 engine is SAE 10W-40 or 15W-40 with API Service Classification CF or higher.
The air filter should be checked every 50 hours and replaced every 200 hours of operation or more frequently in dusty conditions.
To adjust the valve clearance, ensure the engine is cool, remove the valve cover, and set the clearance to 0.20 mm (0.008 in) for both intake and exhaust valves. Rotate the crankshaft to Top Dead Center (TDC) on the compression stroke before adjusting.
If the engine won't start, check the battery charge, fuel supply, and ensure there is no air in the fuel lines. Verify the glow plugs are functioning, and examine the fuel filters for blockages.
To bleed the fuel system, loosen the bleed screw on the fuel filter housing, use the manual fuel pump to purge air until fuel flows without bubbles, and then retighten the bleed screw.
For long-term storage, drain the fuel, change the oil, remove the battery, and keep the engine in a dry, dust-free environment. Cover the engine to protect it from dust and moisture.
The oil should be changed every 100 hours of operation or annually, whichever comes first. Make sure to replace the oil filter with each oil change.
To increase the engine's lifespan, perform regular maintenance, keep the engine clean, use quality fuel and lubricants, and avoid overloading the engine.
If the engine overheats, immediately shut it down and let it cool. Check for coolant levels, radiator obstructions, and ensure the fan is operational.
Signs of a fuel pump failure include engine starting issues, irregular idling, and loss of power. Check for fuel leaks, unusual noises from the pump, and verify fuel pressure.
