Jotul Model 3TDIC-2 Operating Instructions

Begin by placing crumpled newspaper and small kindling at the bottom of the stove. Open the air control fully and light the newspaper. Once the kindling is burning, add small logs gradually as the fire builds.
To clean the glass door, use a soft cloth and a specialized stove glass cleaner. Avoid abrasive materials that can scratch the glass. Regular cleaning will help maintain clear visibility.
The chimney should be inspected and cleaned at least once a year to prevent creosote buildup, which can lead to chimney fires. More frequent cleaning may be necessary depending on usage.
Ensure the air vents are open and the chimney is not blocked. Check for drafts or negative pressure in the room. If the problem persists, have a professional inspect the stove and chimney.
Use seasoned hardwood with low moisture content. Ensure that the stove seals are intact and the air control is properly adjusted for optimal combustion.
Use well-seasoned hardwoods such as oak, maple, or ash. These types of wood burn more efficiently and produce more heat compared to softwoods.
The air control lever is located at the front of the stove. Push it towards the left to increase air flow and to the right to decrease it, allowing you to control the burn rate.
Store wood in a dry, well-ventilated area, elevated off the ground. Cover the top of the pile to protect it from rain, but leave the sides open to allow air circulation.
Check that the seals on the door are intact and that there are no air leaks. Make sure the air control is not set too high, as this can increase the burn rate.
Regularly check and clean the ash pan, inspect door seals for wear, and ensure that the air vents are clear. Annually, have a professional inspect the stove and chimney.
