To light a fire, ensure the air vents are open fully. Use dry kindling and small pieces of wood, and place them in a crisscross pattern. Light the kindling, allowing air to circulate freely around the wood for a sustained burn.
Hardwoods such as oak, maple, and birch are recommended for the Jotul Combifire 4B Stove as they burn longer and produce more heat compared to softwoods. Always use seasoned wood with moisture content below 20%.
Ensure that the chimney is not blocked and is clean. Check for leaks in the flue and ensure all seals are intact. Additionally, verify that the air vents are open to allow proper airflow.
Routinely inspect and clean the chimney to prevent creosote buildup. Check door seals for wear and replace as needed. Clean the glass with a recommended cleaner and check for any cracked or broken parts.
Use a soft cloth and a cleaner specifically designed for stove glass. Avoid abrasive materials that can scratch the glass. Clean when the glass is cool to prevent thermal shock.
Check if the wood being used is properly seasoned. Ensure air vents are open and unblocked. Inspect the stove and chimney for any blockages that might restrict airflow.
Manufactured logs can be used if they are safe for wood stoves. Avoid logs that contain wax or other chemicals that might damage the stove or produce harmful emissions.
Contact a professional chimney sweep to remove creosote buildup. Regularly burning dry, seasoned wood and maintaining proper airflow can help prevent creosote formation.
Replace the gasket with a new one of the same size and type. Clean the gasket channel before applying high-temperature adhesive and fitting the new gasket securely.
Start with the air control fully open to ignite the fire. Once the fire is established, adjust the air control to maintain a steady burn, reducing it to prolong the burn as needed while ensuring efficient combustion.
