Begin by ensuring the air control is fully open. Place crumpled newspaper and kindling on the bottom and light the paper. Once the kindling is burning well, add larger logs. Gradually adjust the air control for optimal burning.
Use well-seasoned hardwood with moisture content below 20%. Avoid softwoods and wet or green wood as they can cause excessive smoke and creosote buildup.
Ensure the chimney is clean and not blocked. Check that the air vents are open and the wood is dry. If the problem persists, inspect the door seals and gaskets for damage.
Use a soft cloth and a stove glass cleaner or a mixture of vinegar and water. Avoid abrasive cleaners. Regularly burning the stove hot can also help keep the glass cleaner.
Empty the ash pan regularly whenever it becomes about half-full to prevent overflow. Always ensure the ashes are cold before handling.
The Jotul F 3 CB does not have a catalytic combustor, making maintenance simpler. Routine cleaning of the chimney and regular inspections are recommended.
Ensure the wood is dry and well-seasoned. Maintain proper airflow by keeping the air vents clear and adjust the air control to ensure efficient burning.
Check for chimney obstructions and ensure the flue is properly installed. You may also need to preheat the flue or check for negative pressure in the room.
Purchase a replacement gasket kit specific to the Jotul F 3 CB. Remove the old gasket, clean the channel, apply high-temperature adhesive, and fit the new gasket snugly into place.
Burn only dry, seasoned wood and maintain a hot fire to reduce creosote formation. Regularly clean the chimney and check for any obstructions or buildup.
