Ensure the fuel tank is filled, the oil level is adequate, and the spark plug is connected. Set the throttle to 'Start' position, pull the starter rope gently until you feel resistance, then pull sharply to start the engine.
Use unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of at least 87. Avoid using gasoline with more than 10% ethanol content.
Change the oil after the first 5 hours of use, and then every 25 hours of operation or at the beginning of each mowing season.
Check if there is fuel in the tank, the spark plug is connected and in good condition, and the air filter is clean. Ensure the throttle is in the correct position and the engine is not flooded.
Remove the air filter cover, take out the filter, and clean it with warm soapy water. Allow it to dry completely before reinstalling. Replace if damaged or excessively dirty.
The ideal mowing height varies depending on grass type, but a general rule is to cut no more than one-third of the grass height at a time. Adjust the wheel height accordingly.
Sharpen the blade at least once a season or when you notice uneven cutting. Remove the blade, use a file or sharpening tool, and ensure it's balanced before reinstalling.
Check for debris stuck in the blade area, ensure the blade is balanced and securely tightened, and inspect the engine mounting bolts for tightness.
Run the mower until the fuel tank is empty or add a fuel stabilizer, change the oil, clean the mower, and store it in a dry place. Remove the battery if applicable.
Always wear appropriate footwear and safety glasses, clear the lawn of debris before mowing, never refuel the mower while the engine is hot, and keep children and pets at a safe distance.
