To start the Jonsered GTA850-28 Trimmer, first ensure the trimmer is on a flat surface. Press the primer bulb 6 times, set the choke to the full position, and pull the starter rope briskly until the engine fires. Once it starts, move the choke to the half position, let it warm up, then set it to run.
The Jonsered GTA850-28 Trimmer requires a 50:1 fuel to oil mix ratio. Use unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 89 and high-quality 2-stroke engine oil.
To replace the trimmer line, first turn off the trimmer and disconnect the spark plug. Remove the spool cover, take out the old line, and cut 15 feet of new line. Insert one end into the spool and wind it evenly. Secure the line, reattach the cover, and reconnect the spark plug.
Regular maintenance includes checking and cleaning the air filter, inspecting the spark plug, tightening any loose screws, and checking the fuel system for leaks. Clean the trimmer head and replace the line as needed.
A rough-running trimmer may be caused by a dirty air filter, old spark plug, or incorrect fuel mix. Clean or replace the air filter, inspect the spark plug, and ensure the fuel mix is correct.
To adjust the idle speed, locate the idle adjustment screw on the carburetor. Turn the screw clockwise to increase the idle speed or counterclockwise to decrease it, ensuring the trimmer head does not rotate at idle.
Always wear protective eyewear, gloves, and sturdy footwear. Keep bystanders and pets at least 50 feet away. Inspect the trimmer for damage before use, and never operate it indoors or in poorly ventilated areas.
To prevent overheating, ensure the air vents are clean and unobstructed. Use the correct fuel mix and avoid running the trimmer continuously for long periods. Allow it to cool down if it becomes excessively hot during operation.
If the trimmer won't start, check for fuel, ensure the spark plug is connected and clean, and inspect the air filter. Verify the choke is set correctly and that the fuel is not stale.
For off-season storage, empty the fuel tank and run the engine to clear the carburetor. Clean the trimmer thoroughly, remove the spark plug, and add a few drops of oil into the cylinder. Store in a dry, well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight.
