Ensure the mower is on a flat surface. Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the "ON" position. Press the brake pedal and then press the start button or turn the key to start the engine.
Use unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87. Avoid using fuels with high ethanol content as it may cause engine damage.
Regular maintenance should be performed after every 25 hours of use or at least once per season. This includes checking oil levels, inspecting the air filter, and ensuring blades are sharp.
Check if the blades are dull or damaged. Ensure that the tire pressures are equal and the deck is level. Adjust the deck height as needed.
Check the fuel level and ensure it's not old or contaminated. Inspect the spark plug for fouling and replace if necessary. Check the battery connection and charge or replace the battery if needed.
Warm up the engine and then turn it off. Remove the oil drain plug and allow the oil to drain completely. Replace the plug, remove the oil filter, and install a new one. Refill with the recommended engine oil and check the level with the dipstick.
It is not recommended to use the mower on wet grass as it can lead to clumping, uneven cutting, and potential damage to the mower. Wait for the grass to dry before mowing.
Locate the cutting height adjustment lever on the mower. Move the lever to the desired position to raise or lower the cutting deck. Ensure that all wheels are set to the same height for an even cut.
After ensuring the mower is turned off, use a garden hose to gently rinse off grass clippings and debris. Avoid spraying water directly into the engine. Clean the undercarriage with a brush if needed.
Ensure the tires are properly inflated and consider using tire chains or weights if operating on slippery or uneven terrain. Check for any wear on the tires and replace them if necessary.
