To start the Jonsered FC2145 W Trimmer, ensure the trimmer is on a flat surface. Flip the choke lever to the "choke" position, press the primer bulb several times until fuel is visible, then pull the starter cord sharply until the engine fires. Once it starts, move the choke lever to the "run" position.
Use unleaded gasoline mixed with high-quality 2-stroke engine oil at a ratio of 50:1. Avoid using ethanol-blended fuels above E10 to prevent engine damage.
The air filter should be checked and cleaned after every 10 hours of use. If operating in dusty conditions, clean it more frequently. Replace the filter if it shows signs of damage or heavy contamination.
Ensure you are using the correct diameter line for the trimmer. Avoid striking hard surfaces with the line and keep the trimmer head at the correct angle. If problems persist, check for any sharp edges on the trimmer head that may be cutting the line.
Turn off the trimmer and disconnect the spark plug. Remove the trimmer head cover, take out any remaining line, and insert a new line into the holes of the spool. Wind the line in the direction indicated on the spool, then replace the cover.
Check the air filter for dirt and clean it if necessary. Inspect the spark plug for wear or carbon buildup and replace it if needed. Ensure the fuel is fresh and mixed correctly. Also, check the exhaust for blockages.
Locate the carburetor adjustment screws on the side of the engine. Use a small screwdriver to adjust the idle and mixture screws according to the manufacturer's specifications. Make small adjustments and test the engine performance after each change.
Regular maintenance includes cleaning the air filter, checking and replacing the spark plug, inspecting the fuel filter, and lubricating the gearbox. Additionally, check the trimmer line and replace it as needed.
Drain the fuel tank and run the engine until it stops to remove all fuel from the system. Clean the trimmer thoroughly, including the air filter and cutting attachments. Store it in a dry, well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight.
Check that the trimmer has fuel and the fuel is properly mixed. Inspect the spark plug for fouling or damage, and replace it if necessary. Ensure the choke is in the correct position, and that the air filter is clean. If it still won't start, consider having the trimmer serviced.
