Jonsered CS2255 Parts Manual

To start the Jonsered CS2255 chainsaw, follow these steps: 1) Engage the chain brake. 2) Turn the ignition switch to the "On" position. 3) Pull the choke control out to the full extent. 4) Pull the starter handle until you hear the engine attempt to start. 5) Push the choke control in halfway and pull the starter handle again until the engine starts. 6) Once started, push the choke control fully in and release the chain brake.
Use a mixture of unleaded gasoline and high-quality 2-stroke engine oil. The recommended ratio is 50:1, which corresponds to 2.6 ounces of oil per gallon of gasoline. Make sure to thoroughly mix the fuel before filling the chainsaw.
It is recommended to clean the air filter after every 5 hours of operation. If operating in dusty or dirty conditions, clean it more frequently. To clean, remove the air filter cover, take out the filter, and wash it with warm soapy water. Let it dry completely before reinstalling.
If the chain is not cutting effectively, make sure it is properly sharpened and tensioned. Check for dull or damaged teeth and sharpen them using a round file or have a professional sharpen it. Also, ensure the chain is correctly tensioned and lubricated.
To adjust the chain tension, first, ensure the chainsaw is off and the chain brake is engaged. Loosen the bar nuts slightly, then use the tensioning screw to adjust the chain. The correct tension is achieved when the chain can be lifted slightly from the bar but snaps back into place. Tighten the bar nuts once adjusted.
Engine flooding can occur if the choke is left open for too long during starting or if the carburetor settings are incorrect. To resolve flooding, remove the spark plug, dry it, and pull the starter a few times to clear excess fuel. Reinstall the spark plug and attempt to start the saw without the choke.
Regular maintenance includes cleaning the air filter, checking the spark plug, inspecting the chain and guide bar, lubricating the chain, and ensuring all bolts and screws are tight. Refer to the user manual for a detailed maintenance schedule and procedures.
If the chainsaw starts but stalls, check the fuel filter, air filter, and carburetor for blockages. Ensure that the fuel mixture is fresh and correctly mixed. Clean or replace the fuel filter and air filter as needed and adjust the carburetor settings according to the manual.
For a chainsaw that won't start, check the fuel level, spark plug condition, and ensure the stop switch is in the "On" position. Inspect the spark plug for fouling and replace if necessary. Make sure the fuel is fresh and properly mixed. If problems persist, consider having a professional check the ignition system and carburetor.
For long-term storage, empty the fuel tank and run the engine until it stops to clear the carburetor of fuel. Clean the chainsaw thoroughly, including the air filter and cooling fins. Remove the chain and bar, clean them, and store them in a dry place. Keep the chainsaw in a dry, dust-free environment away from direct sunlight.
