The recommended break-in procedure involves varying engine speeds and avoiding high RPMs for the first 10 hours of operation. Gradually increase the engine load, and avoid prolonged idling. After the break-in period, change the engine oil and check the valve clearances.
If the motorcycle is having starting issues, check the battery charge and connections. Ensure that the fuel is fresh and the fuel lines are clear. Inspect the spark plug for wear or fouling, and verify that the kill switch is in the correct position.
Regular maintenance should include oil changes every 10 hours of use, air filter cleaning after every ride in dusty conditions, and regular checks of the chain tension and lubrication. Inspect brake pads and tires regularly for wear.
The suspension settings can be adjusted using the compression and rebound damping adjusters on the forks and shock. For rough terrain, soften the suspension by reducing damping. For smoother tracks, increase the damping for better control.
Husqvarna recommends using a high-quality, fully synthetic 4-stroke motorcycle oil with a viscosity of 10W-50. Ensure that the oil meets the JASO MA2 specifications for optimal performance.
To check the valve clearance, remove the seat, fuel tank, and valve cover. Rotate the engine to TDC on the compression stroke and use a feeler gauge to measure the clearance between the cam lobes and the valve buckets. Refer to the service manual for the correct specifications.
If the electric starter fails, check the battery voltage and connections. Inspect the starter relay and fuses for any issues. If necessary, use the kick starter and consult a professional mechanic if the problem persists.
Remove the air filter cover and take out the air filter. Wash it in warm, soapy water, then rinse and let it dry. Apply a light coat of air filter oil and reinstall it. Ensure the seal is tight to prevent dirt ingress.
To improve fuel efficiency, ensure the engine is well-maintained, with regular oil changes and air filter cleaning. Ride smoothly, avoid excessive idling, and keep the tire pressures at the recommended levels.
Common signs of clutch wear include slipping under load, a spongy clutch lever feel, and difficulty shifting gears. Inspect the clutch plates and springs for wear and replace them as needed.
