To break in the engine, ride the motorcycle gently for the first 1,000 km (621 miles). Avoid high RPMs, full throttle, and extensive idling. Gradually increase the engine performance, ensuring a varied riding style.
The recommended tire pressure for the Husqvarna SVARTPILEN 401 is 29 psi (2.0 bar) for the front tire and 32 psi (2.2 bar) for the rear tire. Always check pressure when tires are cold.
Oil changes should be performed every 7,500 km (4,660 miles) or once a year, whichever comes first. Use high-quality synthetic oil that meets the motorcycle's specifications.
Use a high-quality ethylene glycol-based coolant that is compatible with aluminum engines. It's crucial to maintain a 50:50 coolant to distilled water ratio for optimal performance.
To adjust the chain tension, place the motorcycle on a center stand, loosen the rear axle nut, and adjust the tensioners on each side of the swingarm until the chain has about 30-40 mm slack. Tighten the axle nut once adjusted.
First, check the battery charge and terminals for any loose connections. Ensure the kill switch is off and the fuel level is adequate. If the issue persists, consult a professional technician.
Remove the air filter cover, take out the filter, and clean it with compressed air or replace it if excessively dirty. Ensure it is completely dry before reinstallation.
For off-season storage, clean the motorcycle thoroughly, fill the fuel tank with stabilized fuel, and disconnect the battery. Store in a dry, cool place and cover with a breathable cover.
To improve fuel efficiency, maintain proper tire pressure, regularly service the engine, use high-quality fuel, and adopt smooth acceleration and braking habits.
During routine maintenance, check and adjust the chain, inspect brakes and tire condition, change the oil and filter, inspect the lights, and ensure all fasteners are tightened correctly.
