To maintain the chain, clean it regularly with a chain cleaner and a soft brush. Lubricate it with a high-quality chain lubricant every 500 km or after riding in wet conditions. Check for proper tension and adjust if necessary.
Check the battery connections to ensure they are tight and corrosion-free. Verify the kill switch is in the 'run' position. Ensure the fuel valve is open and there is enough fuel. If the problem persists, consult a mechanic.
Change the oil and oil filter every 5,000 km or 6 months, whichever comes first, using the manufacturer's recommended oil type.
The recommended tire pressure for the SVARTPILEN 401 is 29 psi (2.0 bar) for the front tire and 32 psi (2.2 bar) for the rear tire. Always check tire pressure when the tires are cold.
To improve fuel efficiency, maintain a steady speed, avoid rapid acceleration and braking, ensure the tires are properly inflated, and keep up with regular maintenance like oil changes and air filter cleaning.
Use a high-quality ethylene glycol-based coolant that is compatible with aluminum engines. Always use a 50/50 mix of coolant and distilled water for optimal performance.
To adjust the suspension, refer to the owner's manual for specific settings based on your weight and riding style. Use the provided tools to adjust the preload, rebound, and compression settings as necessary.
Signs include a squealing noise when braking, reduced braking performance, the brake lever/pedal feeling spongy, or the brake pad material being less than 2mm thick. Regularly inspect brake pads for wear.
Clean the motorcycle thoroughly, lubricate moving parts, fill the tank with fuel and add a stabilizer, disconnect the battery, and store it on a stand to prevent tire flat spots. Cover the motorcycle to protect it from dust and moisture.
If the engine overheats, pull over safely and turn off the engine. Let it cool down completely before checking the coolant level. If low, top it up with the appropriate coolant. Check for leaks or a malfunctioning fan if overheating persists.
