To change the oil, run the engine for a few minutes to warm it up, then turn it off. Remove the oil drain plug and let the old oil drain completely into a suitable container. Replace the drain plug and refill the engine with the recommended type and amount of oil. Check the oil level with the dipstick.
First, check the fuel level and ensure that the fuel is fresh. Inspect the spark plug for wear or damage and replace it if necessary. Check the air filter for dirt and replace it if it's clogged. Ensure all safety features are engaged, and the battery is charged if applicable.
To replace the blades, ensure the mower is on a flat surface and disconnect the spark plug. Lift the mower deck to access the blades. Use a wrench to remove the blade bolt, then take off the old blade. Install the new blade, ensuring it's oriented correctly, and tighten the bolt securely.
Regular maintenance includes checking the oil level and condition, cleaning or replacing the air filter, inspecting the spark plug, sharpening the blades, checking tire pressure, and cleaning under the deck to prevent grass build-up.
To adjust the cutting height, locate the height adjustment levers on each wheel. Move the lever to the desired position, ensuring all four wheels are set to the same height for an even cut.
Use unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Avoid using gasoline with more than 10% ethanol content to prevent damage to the engine.
Check if the blades are sharp and balanced. Ensure the tire pressures are equal on all sides. Verify that the deck is level and adjust it if necessary. Remove any debris or grass build-up underneath the deck.
Excessive vibration can be caused by unbalanced or damaged blades. Check the blades for damage and balance them if necessary. Also, inspect the engine mounts and tighten any loose bolts.
Ensure the engine is off and cool. Tilt the mower to one side carefully, making sure the carburetor side is up. Use a garden hose or scraper to remove grass clippings and debris from the underside of the deck.
Inspect the belt for wear or damage. If the belt is worn or broken, replace it following the instructions in the owner's manual. Ensure that all pulleys and tensioners are in good condition and properly aligned.
