To start the Husqvarna 545 Mark II Chainsaw, ensure the chain brake is activated, set the choke to the start position, press the decompression valve, and pull the starter handle until the engine fires. Then, push the choke in and pull again until the engine starts.
To maintain the correct chain tension, loosen the bar nuts slightly, adjust the tensioning screw until the chain is snug against the bar but can still be pulled around by hand, and then retighten the bar nuts.
Clean the air filter after every 5 hours of operation or more frequently in dusty conditions. Remove the filter, tap it gently to remove debris, or use compressed air to clean it.
Use a 50:1 fuel-to-oil ratio with high-quality unleaded gasoline and a good quality 2-stroke engine oil.
Rough idling can be caused by a clogged air filter, incorrect carburetor settings, or old fuel. Clean the air filter, adjust the carburetor settings, and replace the fuel if necessary.
Use a round file and file guide to sharpen each cutter on the chain. File each cutter at a consistent angle and depth, ensuring the depth gauges are filed to the correct height using a depth gauge tool.
Common reasons include a flooded engine, old or incorrect fuel, a clogged air filter, or a faulty spark plug. Check and address each of these areas as needed.
Drain the fuel, clean the chainsaw thoroughly, remove the chain and guide bar, and store the chainsaw in a dry, dust-free environment. Consider using a protective cover.
Remove the spark plug boot, unscrew the old spark plug using a spark plug wrench, and replace it with a new one, ensuring the correct gap setting before tightening.
Ensure the oil tank is filled, check the oil filter for clogs, inspect the oil delivery line for blockages, and confirm the oil pump is functioning correctly. Adjust the oil flow rate setting if necessary.
