To start the Husqvarna 395XP, first ensure the chain brake is engaged. Then, switch the ignition to the "on" position. Set the choke control to full choke for a cold engine. Pull the starter handle until the engine fires, then set the choke to half and pull again until the engine starts. Allow the saw to warm up before use.
The correct fuel mixture for the Husqvarna 395XP is a 50:1 ratio of gasoline to two-stroke oil. Use unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 89 and a high-quality two-stroke oil.
To adjust the chain tension, loosen the bar nuts on the side panel slightly. Turn the tensioning screw clockwise to tighten the chain or counterclockwise to loosen it. The chain should fit snugly against the bar but still move freely by hand. Tighten the bar nuts once the tension is correct.
If your chainsaw won't start, check the fuel level and mixture, ensure the spark plug is clean and properly gapped, and inspect the air filter for clogs. Verify that the ignition switch is in the "on" position and that the choke is correctly set.
The air filter should be checked and cleaned after every 5 hours of operation or more frequently if working in dusty conditions. Replace the filter if it shows signs of significant wear or damage.
Use a high-quality bar and chain oil specifically designed for chainsaws. This oil is formulated to provide optimal lubrication and reduce friction during cutting operations.
To sharpen the chain, use a round file with the correct diameter for your chain size. File each cutter at a consistent angle, matching the existing bevel, and ensure each cutter is the same length for even cutting. Use a flat file to maintain the depth gauges.
Perform daily checks of the chain brake, chain tension, and lubrication system. Clean the air filter and check the spark plug weekly. Monthly, inspect the fuel filter and replace if needed. Annually, have a professional inspect the chainsaw for any needed repairs or adjustments.
To replace the spark plug, first disconnect the spark plug wire. Use a spark plug socket to remove the old plug. Check the gap on the new plug and adjust if necessary. Install the new plug by hand to avoid cross-threading, then tighten securely with the socket. Reattach the spark plug wire.
If the chainsaw is overheating, ensure the air intake and cooling fins are clean and free of debris. Check the chain lubrication system and make sure the oil is flowing properly. Avoid extended periods of idling and ensure you are using the correct fuel mixture.
