To set up the tremolo system, first ensure the bridge is parallel to the body. Adjust the spring tension in the back cavity so that the bridge floats about 1/8 inch off the body. Tune the guitar, then fine-tune the tremolo springs and bridge height for balance.
Common causes include improper string winding, tremolo setup issues, and nut binding. Ensure strings are properly stretched and lubricate the nut slots with a suitable graphite or nut sauce.
Use a soft cloth dampened with lemon oil or a specialized fretboard cleaner. Rub gently to remove grime, and then wipe off any excess oil. Avoid using too much liquid, especially on maple fretboards.
Check if the pickup selector switch is functioning correctly and ensure all solder connections are secure. If issues persist, test the pickups individually with a multimeter for continuity.
To adjust the action, use the truss rod to set the neck relief first. Then, raise or lower the saddle heights using a small Allen wrench to achieve the desired string height across the fretboard.
The standard string gauge is .009-.042 or .010-.046. However, this can vary based on personal preference and playing style. Heavier gauges may require additional neck and tremolo adjustments.
Ensure the neck relief is correct and check the saddle heights. If the buzz persists, consider having a professional setup or fret leveling performed. Changing string gauge might also help.
Regularly wipe the guitar with a microfiber cloth to remove fingerprints and dust. Use guitar polish sparingly to maintain the shine and avoid abrasive cleaning materials that can scratch the finish.
Loosen the strings gradually before cutting or removing them. When installing new strings, wind them carefully around the tuning pegs and stretch them gently to minimize tuning issues.
First, ensure the guitar is in tune. Check the 12th fret harmonic against the fretted note. If they don't match, adjust the saddle position forward or backward until the intonation is correct. Repeat for each string.
