To start the trimmer, ensure the unit is on a flat surface. Move the choke lever to the full choke position, prime the bulb until fuel is visible, and pull the starter rope briskly. Once the engine starts, move the choke to the half position and allow it to run for a few seconds before setting it to run.
The Craftsman CMXGTAM202501 Trimmer uses unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87 and a 2-cycle engine oil mix. The fuel-to-oil ratio should be 40:1.
To replace the trimmer line, first ensure the trimmer is off and the spark plug wire is disconnected. Remove the spool cap, take out any remaining line, and insert a new line through the eyelets. Wind the line evenly onto the spool and reattach the cap securely.
If the trimmer won't start, check if there's fuel in the tank and that the spark plug is clean and properly connected. Ensure the choke is in the correct position, and try priming the bulb again. If the problem persists, inspect the air filter for clogs.
The air filter should be inspected before each use and cleaned every 5 hours of operation. Replace it if it's damaged or excessively dirty. Regular maintenance ensures optimal engine performance.
Inspect the spark plug every 25 hours of operation. Clean it with a wire brush and adjust the gap to the manufacturer's specifications. Replace the spark plug after every 100 hours of use or annually.
Excessive vibration could be due to an unbalanced or damaged cutting attachment. Inspect the trimmer head and replace any damaged parts. Ensure the cutting attachment is installed correctly and that the trimmer line is of equal length on both sides.
To store the trimmer, first drain the fuel tank and run the engine until it stops. Clean the trimmer thoroughly and lubricate any moving parts. Store it in a dry, sheltered area away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
If the trimmer line frequently breaks, check for debris or obstacles in the cutting area. Ensure the line is of the correct diameter and type for your model. Avoid contact with hard surfaces, and ensure the line is properly wound and not too old or brittle.
To enhance cutting performance, regularly replace the trimmer line and keep the cutting attachment clean. Ensure the engine is well-maintained with clean fuel, a fresh air filter, and a properly gapped spark plug. Use the trimmer at full throttle for best results.
