To start the Craftsman CMXGMAM201202 mower, ensure the fuel tank is filled, engage the safety handle, set the throttle to the start position, and pull the starter cord firmly.
Use clean, fresh, unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Avoid using gasoline with more than 10% ethanol content.
Change the oil after the first 5 hours of use, then every 50 hours of use or at the start of each mowing season.
Check the fuel level, make sure the spark plug is connected, and ensure that the air filter is clean. If the problem persists, inspect the spark plug and replace it if necessary.
Turn off the mower and disconnect the spark plug. Use a garden hose to wash away grass clippings and debris from the cutting deck. Dry thoroughly to prevent rust.
Regularly sharpen the mower blades, ensure the deck is clear of debris, and mow when the grass is dry for optimal cutting performance.
Drain the fuel tank, change the oil, clean the mower thoroughly, and store it in a dry place. Consider removing the battery if applicable and storing it separately.
Locate the height adjustment lever near the wheels and move it to the desired height setting. Ensure all wheels are set to the same height for an even cut.
Check for debris stuck in the blade area, ensure the blade is not bent or damaged, and confirm that the blade is properly secured.
Inspect the air filter every 25 hours of use and replace it if it appears dirty or damaged. At a minimum, replace the air filter once per mowing season.
