To start the Craftsman CMXGCAQ108493 Trimmer, ensure the unit is on a flat surface. Set the choke lever to the full choke position. Press the primer bulb 10 times. Pull the starter rope until the engine starts, then move the choke lever to the run position.
Use unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87 and a maximum ethanol content of 10%. Mix with high-quality, 2-cycle oil at a 50:1 ratio.
To replace the trimmer line, remove the spool cap, take out any remaining line, and insert new line into the spool. Follow the directional arrows on the spool for correct winding direction and reattach the cap securely.
If the trimmer line won't advance, ensure the line is properly wound and not tangled. Check for debris in the line head and ensure the spool cap is secured. If necessary, replace the line with a new one.
To clean the air filter, remove the air filter cover and take out the filter. Wash it with warm, soapy water, rinse thoroughly, and let it dry completely before reinstalling. Do not use compressed air to clean the filter.
Excessive vibration could be due to a damaged or unbalanced cutting attachment. Inspect the attachment and replace it if damaged. Also, ensure all nuts and bolts are tightened securely.
Regular maintenance should be performed after every 50 hours of operation or annually, whichever comes first. This includes cleaning the air filter, checking the fuel system, and inspecting the spark plug.
If the trimmer won't start, check the fuel level and quality, ensure the spark plug is in good condition, and verify that the air filter is clean. Inspect the ignition system and replace any faulty components.
Before storing the trimmer for the off-season, empty the fuel tank and run the engine until it stops. Clean the unit thoroughly, check for any damage, and store it in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight.
Always wear protective gear, such as safety glasses, gloves, and long pants. Keep bystanders at a safe distance and be cautious of debris. Follow the manufacturer's instructions and never modify the tool.
