To thread the Brother LS-1217, raise the needle to its highest position and lift the presser foot. Place the spool on the spool pin and pass the thread through the thread guide. Follow the threading path, ensuring the thread is properly seated in the tension discs, through the take-up lever, and finally thread the needle from front to back.
If the machine is skipping stitches, check if the needle is inserted correctly and not bent. Ensure you are using the correct needle and thread for your fabric. Re-thread the machine and adjust the tension if necessary.
To adjust the tension on the Brother LS-1217, locate the tension dial on the front of the machine. Increase the tension by turning the dial to a higher number or decrease it by turning it to a lower number. Test on a fabric scrap to find the ideal setting.
A loud noise may indicate that the machine needs cleaning or oiling. Check for lint or thread stuck in the bobbin area and ensure the needle is not damaged. If the noise persists, consult the user manual for maintenance instructions.
To change the needle, turn off the machine and raise the needle bar to its highest position. Loosen the needle clamp screw and remove the old needle. Insert a new needle with the flat side facing the back and tighten the needle clamp screw securely.
The Brother LS-1217 requires class 15 plastic bobbins. Using the correct bobbin type ensures proper tension and stitch quality.
Regularly clean the machine by removing lint and dust with a small brush. Oil the moving parts as directed in the manual. Ensure you unplug the machine before performing any maintenance. Schedule periodic professional servicing for optimal performance.
Ensure the presser foot is down and the feed dogs are engaged. Check if there is any obstruction in the feed dog area and clean as needed. Adjust the presser foot pressure if your machine has this feature.
Select the buttonhole stitch on the stitch selector. Attach the buttonhole foot and adjust the stitch length. Position the fabric and lower the presser foot. Sew the buttonhole in four steps, following the manual’s instructions for perfect results.
Check if the power cord is properly connected and the power switch is turned on. Ensure the outlet is working by testing with another device. If the machine still does not turn on, consult a professional technician.
