To thread the Brother Innov-is BP1430L, first raise the presser foot and turn the handwheel to raise the needle. Then, follow the threading path indicated on the machine, ensuring the thread passes through each guide and the tension disc before threading the needle.
Ensure that the bobbin is inserted correctly and the bobbin case is properly positioned. Check that the upper thread is threaded correctly and the needle is not bent or dull. Re-thread the machine and try again.
Turn off the machine and raise the needle to its highest position. Loosen the needle clamp screw and remove the old needle. Insert a new needle with the flat side facing the back and tighten the screw securely.
Regularly clean the lint from the bobbin area and feed dogs, oil the machine as per the manual’s instructions, and ensure that all parts are functioning smoothly. Annual servicing by a professional is recommended.
To adjust the tension, use the tension dial located on the front of the machine. Turn it to a higher number for tighter tension or a lower number for looser tension. Test on scrap fabric to achieve the desired stitch quality.
Ensure the presser foot is lowered before sewing and check that the feed dogs are not lowered. If the fabric is still sticking, try using a different needle and check the thread tension settings.
Check that the machine is correctly threaded, the bobbin is wound and inserted properly, and the machine is set to the correct stitch settings. Also, ensure the foot pedal is connected and the power is on.
Use the stitch selection buttons on the machine’s control panel to choose your desired stitch. Refer to the stitch chart on the machine for the corresponding number. Adjust the stitch length and width as needed.
Stop sewing immediately and turn off the machine. Check for any tangled thread or lint build-up in the bobbin area and around the feed dogs. Ensure the needle is not bent or damaged. Restart the machine after cleaning.
To perform a factory reset, turn off the machine. While holding the reverse stitch button, turn the machine back on. Release the button when the reset screen appears and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the reset.
