Ensure the tractor is on level ground and the parking brake is engaged. Turn the throttle to the 'fast' position, insert the key and turn to the 'start' position. Release the key once the engine starts.
Check the fuel level, ensure the battery is charged, and inspect the spark plug. Make sure the safety switches are engaged and the air filter is clean.
The oil should be changed every 50 hours of operation or at least once per season, whichever comes first. Use a high-quality oil recommended by Briggs & Stratton.
Remove the blades from the deck and secure them in a vice. Use a file or grinder to sharpen the cutting edges, maintaining the original angle. Balance the blades before reinstalling.
Check tire pressure to ensure they are even. Inspect the blades for wear or damage and ensure they are correctly installed. Adjust the deck level if necessary.
Clean the tractor thoroughly, change the oil, and add a fuel stabilizer to the tank. Disconnect the battery and store it in a cool, dry place. Cover the tractor to protect it from dust and moisture.
Inspect the air filter and replace if dirty. Check the spark plug for wear and replace if necessary. Ensure the fuel is fresh and the fuel filter is clean.
Locate the height adjustment lever on the tractor. Move the lever to the desired position, which corresponds to various cutting heights. Ensure the deck is level for an even cut.
Check the battery terminals for corrosion and clean them if necessary. Ensure the charging system is functioning correctly. If the battery is old or damaged, it may need to be replaced.
Refer to the owner's manual for specific instructions. Generally, you'll need to remove the mower deck, release tension on the belt, and then remove it from the pulleys. Install the new belt in the reverse order.
