To replace the air filter, first turn off the engine and let it cool. Locate the air filter cover on the side of the engine, remove the cover, and take out the old filter. Insert the new filter, ensuring it is seated correctly, and reattach the cover.
The recommended oil type is SAE 30 for temperatures above 40°F (4°C) and 10W-30 for a variable temperature range. Always check the owner’s manual for the most accurate information.
Check the battery connections to ensure they are clean and tight. Verify that there is enough fuel and the fuel valve is open. Inspect the spark plug for wear or damage and replace if necessary.
Regular maintenance includes changing the oil, replacing the air filter, inspecting and replacing the spark plug, checking the fuel system, and cleaning the engine and mower deck.
Disconnect the spark plug wire and use a spark plug wrench to remove the old spark plug. Check the gap on the new spark plug and adjust if necessary. Install the new spark plug and reconnect the spark plug wire.
Engine overheating could be caused by a dirty air filter, insufficient oil levels, or a clogged cooling fin. Check these components and clean or replace as needed.
Remove the air filter and housing to access the carburetor. Detach the carburetor and clean it using a carburetor cleaner spray. Reassemble the carburetor and ensure all connections are secure.
Excessive smoke may indicate oil overfill, a dirty air filter, or a problem with the carburetor. Check and correct the oil level, replace the air filter, and ensure the carburetor is clean.
Blades should be sharpened at least once per mowing season or more frequently if they become dull or nicked. Make sure to balance the blades after sharpening.
To winterize, drain the fuel tank or add a fuel stabilizer, change the oil, remove the battery and store it in a cool, dry place, and clean the tractor thoroughly before storage.
