To start the tractor, ensure the parking brake is engaged, the PTO switch is off, and the throttle is set to the choke position. Turn the ignition key to the start position until the engine fires, then release the key.
If the engine won't start, check the fuel level, ensure the spark plug is clean and properly connected, and verify that the battery is charged. Also, make sure the safety switches are not engaged.
The oil should be changed after the first 5 hours of use and then every 50 hours of operation or at the beginning of each season.
Use SAE 30 oil for warmer temperatures above 40°F (4°C) and 10W-30 for varying temperature ranges. Always check the owner's manual for specific recommendations.
Check the tire pressure to ensure all tires are equally inflated, inspect the mower deck for levelness, and sharpen the blades if necessary.
Before storing, clean the tractor thoroughly, change the oil, add fuel stabilizer, remove the battery, and cover the tractor to protect it from the elements.
To replace the air filter, remove the cover, take out the old filter, insert the new filter, and reattach the cover. Ensure the new filter is properly seated.
Check the drive belt for wear or damage, ensure the transmission fluid is at the correct level, and inspect the linkage for proper adjustment.
Locate the cutting height adjustment lever, usually found on the fender or near the seat, and move it to the desired position. Make sure both sides are adjusted equally.
Excessive vibration can be caused by unbalanced blades, worn bearings, or debris stuck under the deck. Inspect and clean the mower deck, and ensure the blades are balanced and properly mounted.
