Ensure the tractor is on a level surface, set the parking brake, and make sure the transmission is in neutral. Turn the ignition key to the "Start" position and release it once the engine begins running.
Regular maintenance includes checking the oil level, replacing the air filter, inspecting the spark plug, and checking tire pressure. Refer to the manual for the recommended maintenance schedule.
Check the battery connections, ensure there is fuel in the tank, inspect the spark plug for wear, and verify that the safety switches are engaged.
Run the engine for a few minutes to warm the oil, then turn it off. Remove the oil drain plug and let the oil drain into a suitable container. Replace the plug and refill with the recommended oil type and quantity.
Check for debris blocking the engine cooling fins or air intake, ensure the oil level is adequate, and inspect the cooling system for leaks or blockages.
Use the height adjustment lever located near the seat or on the mower deck to set the desired cutting height. Make sure to adjust when the engine is off and the parking brake is set.
Disconnect the spark plug wire, remove the old spark plug using a spark plug wrench, and install a new plug. Ensure it is tightened securely and reconnect the spark plug wire.
Check for loose or damaged parts, ensure that the blades are not bent, and verify that all mounting bolts are tightened. Balancing the blades may also be necessary.
Clean the tractor thoroughly, perform regular maintenance, disconnect the battery, and store it in a dry, covered area. Adding a fuel stabilizer to the tank is also recommended.
Regular maintenance, such as changing the air filter and spark plug, checking tire pressure, and ensuring the engine is tuned properly, can improve fuel efficiency.
