To change the oil, park the tractor on a level surface, turn off the engine, and allow it to cool. Remove the oil drain plug and let the old oil drain into a container. Replace the drain plug, and refill with recommended oil type and amount as per the manual.
Check the battery connections for corrosion and ensure they are tight. Verify that there is sufficient fuel and that the fuel valve is open. If the issue persists, inspect the spark plug for wear or damage and replace if necessary.
Locate the cutting height adjustment lever, usually on the side of the tractor. Move the lever to the desired height setting, making sure it locks into place securely.
Regular maintenance includes checking and replacing the oil every 50 hours of use, cleaning or replacing the air filter every 25 hours, inspecting the spark plug annually, and sharpening the blades as needed.
Check for debris caught in the blades or around the deck. Inspect the blades for damage or imbalance. Ensure that all bolts and connections are tight. If vibration continues, consider having the blades professionally balanced.
Use unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87. Avoid using ethanol blends higher than 10% to prevent engine damage.
Remove the air filter cover and take out the filter. If it's a foam filter, wash it with mild soap and water, then let it dry completely. For paper filters, tap it gently to remove dirt or replace it if it's too dirty.
Ensure that the cooling fins are clean and free of debris. Check the engine oil level and add if necessary. Make sure the engine is not overworked, and that the air filter is clean to allow proper airflow.
Clean the tractor thoroughly, change the oil, and add a fuel stabilizer to the tank. Disconnect the battery and store it in a cool, dry place. Cover the tractor to protect it from dust and moisture.
Check the tire pressure and adjust as necessary for optimal traction. Consider using tire chains or weights for added stability. Adjust the mowing deck to a higher setting to prevent scalping.
